Ixiolites (Aptos)

Ixiolites are a subspecies of gem, similar to Quartzes or pearls in a sense in its categorical nature, which have a relatively specific niche in the fanon of Aptos.

Purpose

Ixiolites were formed for the explicit purposes of acting as a form of highly efficient and stable servants. They are designed to be capable at a variety of tasks, but are more specialized depending on their subtype towards a specific type of task. On a more luxurious note, they are also designed to function as the partner or second in a competition or duel, so as to serve as a more complementary person. Several also act as efficient proxies in place of a busier gem.

All of this is aided by their primary directive, that is, to follow and conform to the instructions of a master. Their will is pointed towards the external locus of self, in other words, the placing the center of their lives in others, which reduces individuality, but also increases a selfless nature when it comes to completing a task. They have no qualms about changing their own personality to this end, and do so quite frequently. However, they also have basic traits to aid in the enjoyment of completion of their chosen task, such as the Manganese Ixiolites enjoying organization.

Abilities

Each Ixiolite is generally made with very little complexity of magic. Bubbling, shapeshifting and the like is more difficult than for normal gems, and abilities are few in number, with a mostly basic weapon. However, each Ixiolite contains one stronger magic, which they revere as having the severity and intensity of fusion. This they generally do not access individually due to a feeling of lack of necessity to do such a powerful feat, but will do so without a doubt upon instruction by a master. These are generally not overly powerful in a combative sense, but utility wise they can have devastating effects, and frequently involve the weaponry of a gem.

Most Ixiolites also have a hologram power, wherein some aspect of themselves is released from their physical form and manifested for an ability. This is usually related for their tasks, and they use these abilities as naturally as breathing. This can also, rather, be a mastery towards a specific kind of magic, though this is less common amongst the ixiolites.

Fusion is of particular abnormality amonst ixiolites. As an ixiolite, they can form unique gemstones when fused with one another, unusual for same gem fusions. This isn't universal however, and only certain gems can fuse with certain other ixiolites for this effect, otherwise a general Ixiolite multigem fusion would be formed. These unique gemstones can have a plethora of weapons and powers, without necessarily having the powers of its sub componenets.
