Black Scapolite is the main antagonist of an upcoming fanfiction created by Heroic412229.

Appearance[]

Black Scapolite is a black and gray, masculine gem. He has a gray complexion, gray, slitted, cat's eyes, black hair in the form of cat ears, and a small, hook nose. He also has a small goatee on his face and a long, devil-like tail.

His clothing consists of pointy, dark-grey shoulder pads,

Personality[]

Unlike other villains who are driven by orders, perfection, trauma, or revenge, Black Scapolite is motivated by chaos, destruction, amusement, and to bring out the worst qualities of others. He claims that his motivation is that he's against Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz for her crimes, but this is more of either a lie or a secondary motive for his actions. This is shown by how he almost tried to shatter Pink/Rose/Steven's gemstone while coldly walked away laughing while he was dying.

He is a cruel, sadistic, cold, ruthless, heartless, murderous, remorseless, unrepentant, sociopathic, psychopathic, and vicious gem who uses his lie to make Pink pay for her crimes as a justification for his actions. He lacks empathy, takes great pleasure and enjoyment out of hurting others and doesn't care about anybody, but himself, making him a completely unsympathetic gem. He also has a dark and twisted sense of humor and can be very hypocritical when it comes to his actions and motivation. He's also very intelligent and cunning.

Black Scapolite is also usually very calm, cool, stoic, manipulative, charming, deceptive, falsely noble and affable, and nearly emotionless. He's able to use these traits to play his enemies right into his hands. At the same time, though, he can be very cocky, traitorous, and pompous to the point of mocking others and going back on his word when making deals with others.

He can also be very nihilistic and wanting to know why Steven would even think about reforming or forgiving others, including the ones who've hurt or even tried to kill him and those around him, especially the other Diamonds. He does have a lot of fortitude when he's under attack, though he does get surprised and shocked when caught by a near non-avoidable attack. Despite his fortitude and completely callous nature, he has a deep inner fear of being shattered and can have a nervous breakdown when he's being destroyed completely. Though, he doesn't mind seeing other gems shattered and deeply enjoys it. He also refuses to admit it due to his own arrogance and love of suffering.

Black Scapolite also harbors a begrudging respect for those who pose a challenge to him as he finds their determination and perseverance sadistically amusing. However, he sees others as mere playthings and/or obstacles in his way that he can hurt, torture, and/or kill for his entertainment and goals for power, control, chaos, destruction, and revenge.

Overall, Scapolite is described as both a monster and an irredeemable gem of pure evil, which he definitely enjoys being called very much. Arguably, he's even worse than White Diamond despite being a lesser gem due to having no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

History[]

Many eons ago, Scapolite was one of the first gems to ever come to existence from Homeworld. He was created from the darkest planet at the furthest reaches of the galaxy during Era 1 as a test subject of the liquid used to create more gems act the cost of the planet's resources, though it did make him more masculine than feminine unlike the other gems after him. Ever since his creation, Scapolite has had his pure evil and sadistic nature and desire to cause chaos, torture, and destruction for his own amusement.

To curb his amusement, The Diamonds assigned him with the task of exterminating any lifeforms left behind during the colonization process. Though Black Scapolite gained pleasure of killing and torturing other life forms, he thought that it wasn't enough and wanted to go bigger to truly satisfy his amusement and lust for chaos, despair, and destruction. So, he decided that the best way to do that is to betray and overthrow his creators and rule over Homeworld to cause as much chaos and destruction as possible for himself.

After getting caught and almost shattered for his treason before eventually escaping to the far edges of the galaxy, he wanted to get revenge on the Diamonds for ruining his fun. He knew that he wasn't powerful enough to take them on, so he devised an eon long plan to gain as much power and abilities as possible in order to not only get rid of the Diamonds, but to expand his desire for chaos and destruction throughout all of existence to satisfy his enjoyment forever, regardless of the well-being and lives of others such as those who get in his way.

Weaknesses[]

  • Scapolite is very cocky and pompous, which causes him to underestimate his opponents at times.
  • In his normal form, Scapolite has all the weaknesses of a normal gem.
    • His shape-shifting is limited.
    • He can get easily poofed with enough force, despite his durability, and needs a lot of time to regenerate.
    • His gemstone can be cracked with enough force.
    • He can be shattered by things like the Breaking Point.
  • Scapolite's power absorption requires a lot of concentration, meaning that if he’s ever caught off-guard or distracted, his power(s) will be negated.
  • Due to being created at the darkest planet at the edge of the galaxy, he’s not immune to pure light or pure light-based attacks in spite of being made of light himself. This might be due to him being made of dark light.
  • All the powers he stole can be returned by either his own choice, or when he’s poofed or shattered.
  • He can’t absorb human abilities, only gems. That means that humans are immune to his power, even when he transforms into the Diamond Emperor.
  • He only gets weakened versions of the special abilities of the gems he stole from.
  • Black Scapolite can only absorb the special abilities that the other gems use the most, meaning that regular abilities can’t be absorbed.
  • He needs to be at least nearby a gem in order to absorb their abilities.

Relationships[]

Pink Diamond[]

Black Scapolite has a false hatred for Pink Diamond due to knowing all of her crimes and secretly decided to shatter her in order to make her pay for her future crimes through any means, not for justice, but for his own amusement and psychological torture.

When the other Diamonds found out about his attempts to shatter Pink Diamond, they decided to get rid of him.

Steven Universe[]

Black Scapolite is Steven's most evil and most dangerous enemy and one of the only ones who not only rejects his attempts to redeem him, but make Steven resent him due to his remorseless, murderous, and heartless nature when he admits that he isn't sympathetic or heroic in the slightest, but pure evil and enjoys it very much just because, even admitting that his hatred for Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz was all a lie. Steven surprisingly even says that he is worse than White Diamond ever was by comparison.

The Crystal Gems[]

During his first encounter with the rest of the Crystal Gems, Scapolite saw them as nothing more than both tools and playthings for his own plans and amusement.

The Other Diamonds[]

Though he did used to serve the other Diamonds before his escape, he only did so out of the thrill of relishing in their destruction and colonization of planets and was never truly loyal to them. In fact, he secretly wished to betray them behind their backs and use their powers and armies to cause as much chaos and even more destruction as possible.

After his attempt to overthrow the Diamonds, he was supposed to be executed and shattered by the other, extremely furious Diamonds, but eventually escaped and plotted his revenge on them for ruining his fun. He also finds their desire for order and colonization to be boring despite the results of their genocide being very amusing to him.

Scapolite's Ultimate Plan[]

In order to get revenge on the Diamonds for ruining his fun and attempted carnage as well as gain enough power and life energy(including theirs) to become strong enough to cause endless chaos, death, and destruction to satisfy his entertainment forever, he needs to come up with a very well-thought-out plan.

The objective is to gradually get as much power and abilities as possible before finishing with the Diamonds after becoming stronger than them.

One of his parts includes torturing Steven into becoming a monster again before controlling him. He also needs to defeat and absorb all the Crystal Gems' energy to increase his abilities even more, though it would forever keep them from reforming unless their energy is given back.

Then do the same with the other Homeworld Gems, including Spinel's, before finally defeating and absorbing the Diamonds' energy.

Overall, his ultimate plan is to get as much power as possible in order to not only destroy both the Crystal Gems and Homeworld, but also cause endless chaos and destruction throughout existence just because.

Trivia[]

  • Black Scapolite is the darkest, most evil, and most dangerous antagonist in the entire Steven Universe franchise due to his pure evil and hypocritical personality and the fact that he has the most irredeemable crimes out of the other villains. He poofed and tried to shatter the Crystal Gem's gemstones for amusement and for getting in the way of his plans, tried to psychologically torture Steven into going into his monster state so that he can control it, and absorbed the other Diamonds and his allies' powers in order to become all-powerful and cause as much chaos and destruction as possible before being defeated and killed for good. All without even a hint of remorse or tragedy within him.
    • He also has no sympathetic traits/motives, redeemable qualities, comedic quirks, or even a tragic backstory. He also rejects every chance of redemption that was given to him because he finds it to be boring. Meaning that the heroes absolutely can't reason, bargain, align with, or redeem him, only defeat him for good.
    • As he says in his theme song, Total Chaos, he's nobody's friend, servant, or helpless victim that needs saving, but is pure evil to the gem and loving every second of it.
  • Despite being very evil and sadistic, he serves as a great and cautionary moral example of how not everyone can be redeemed. As well as how some enjoy being evil and are either just born evil or are just too far gone to be redeemed.
  • It's also possible that his actions have indirectly caused some of the show's darkest moments and aspects, such as giving the idea for Pink Diamonds' rebellion against the other Diamonds, the concept of shattering other gems as punishment, the number of casualties during the Gem War, etc.
